Yvette Cooper launches world leading sustainable buildings on BRE's Innovation Park
Today (Monday) Yvette Cooper, Minister for Housing & Planning, launches five demonstration buildings on the BRE Innovation Park that are world leading in sustainable design and construction. Using some of the very latest innovations in construction technologies and materials, these buildings all address the ‘zero carbon' challenge making them amongst the most sustainable buildings in the world.

Tonight at a gala dinner in London, the winner of the NHBC / Mail on Sunday 'Home of the Future' competition will be announced. The winning design is to be built on BRE's Innovation Park, and you will be able to learn about this in detail at OFFSITE2007. Find out more about the shortlisted entries on the Daily Mail website, and more from BD Magazine. You can also watch a web-tv programme about this, including footage from the OFFSITE 2007 building site, from RealEstate TV.

The Big Build – progress update 30 March : Stewart Milne's pair of four-storey town houses are now erected, with roof and windows being installed. Hanson's foundations and floor are in place ready for factory-built masonry walls to be craned into place. Groundworks have started for Kingspan, ecoTECH and Re-Thinking. We plan to add regular progress photos after Easter.

Ground breaking demonstration buildings to be unveiled at OFFSITE2007
BRE and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) have revealed plans for a range of pioneering, full scale demonstration buildings that will feature at the OFFSITE2007 exhibition and conference, 11-14 June 2007. The aim of the event is to showcase modern methods of construction that achieve higher levels of performance compared with conventional construction forms. Buildings include a school of the future by Re-Thinking, a part of Willmott Dixon Construction, and three innovative houses from sponsors Hanson, Spaceover and Osborne.
