OFFSITE2007 is sponsored by the following organisations:

The Concrete Centre

The Concrete Centre are the central development organisation for the UK cement and concrete industry. Their aim is to assist all those involved in design and construction to realise the full potential of concrete. They achieve this by offering a programme of awareness seminars, training courses and publications. The Concrete Centre also operates a free advice, national helpline that is available Monday to Friday to answer questions or queries about concrete (0700 4 500 500).

energy saving trust

We're a non-profit organisation that promotes energy saving, funded by government and the private sector. Set up after the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, we have two main goals:

To achieve these goals, we work with households, business and the public sector:

Kingspan

Kingspan Off-site Ltd is Europe's leading manufacturer and innovator of timber engineered building systems. The company's design team will be using the latest in design and off-site manufacturing techniques to produce an innovative, sustainable and energy efficient home at Off-site 2007, which will be extremely carbon efficient and offer complete design flexibility and adaptability.

ecoTECH

ecoTECH’s vision is based on an open partnership, involving all sides of the housing industry - from housing associations and private homebuilders, to architects and local authority planners.

Our commitment to modern design, quality, accessibility and the environment have led us to specialise in Swedish off-site modular technology. We offer both “package” homes such as ORGANICS Public and ORGANICS Private – 2 separate ranges designed specifically for their own individual markets – Public Sectors and Private Sectors - both with the same sustainable ethos and high quality, as well as custom designed residential homes, multi-family and commercial projects.

Hanson

Hanson is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of heavy building materials. 'We have a network of more than 600 manufacturing plants serving a range of customers from major civil engineering contractors to local builders and DIY enthusiasts. The Osborne ethos is based on working closely with clients to understand their needs and how the build impacts on their customers. By understanding the needs of the end user, Osborne is able to provide greater added value to help clients maximise development potential.

This is exemplified by the Osborne Demonstration House at the BRE Innovation Park. Sustainability, cost efficiency and environmental performance are all key themes of the house.

smartLIFE
SmartLIFE is a not-for-profit business partnership between BRE and Cambridgeshire County Council, working with other stakeholders to deliver sustainable growth solutions. A network of SmartLIFE Centres in Cambridge, Malmö and Hamburg are running international conferences, seminars, exhibitions and events. These, together with a coordinated international training programme, deliver professional and vocational skills for sustainable and innovative construction.

SmartLIFE showcase demonstrations in the three countries, offer practical demonstrations of these innovative construction techniques; with the objective of delivering quality affordable and sustainable developments. The second UK demonstration of 106 houses uses steel, timber and concrete systems and compares these directly on site with traditional construction. (see BRE Press Release about the Fenland Housing project)

A new approach to construction waste reduction is also being tested through the CoRE project. This works directly with contractors on site to analyse and recycle waste at source in an attempt to reduce construction costs and environmental damage from landfill.

Spaceover
Spaceover was formed to design and produce high quality modern accommodation which will be a pleasure to live in. Innovative components and production techniques combined with pre-site preparation to give lower build costs and faster site programmes. Our construction sites will be safer, cleaner and a much more efficient environment to work in.

ConstructionSkills

ConstructionSkills strategy

To meet these aims we have established the Innovative Construction Skills Forum ( ICSF ) to look at and find solutions to address the impact that innovative methods of construction will have on the industry's skills and training needs. Working with partners from across industry ConstructionSkills will identify areas for future development as well as ensuring a more structured approach that meets the training needs for craft, management and supervisory and professional occupations as the volume of work increases. It is a flexible approach to enable a rapid response to the fast-moving developments in manufacturing processes in an increasingly influential market.
